Chemical and physical properties: It is a white crystalline solid. At room temperature, it is easily soluble in water, alcohols, ketones and esters. Despite the high reactivity, the raw material is thermally stable. Neopentyl glycol is an irritant. It can be supplied in flakes or in a molten state. In liquid form, it is delivered at high temperature.

Applications: Used in the production of polyester and alkyd resins for the paint and varnish industry, plasticizers, synthetic lubricants, foam polyurethanes, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, fragrances, photographic materials and as a titanium dioxide dispersant. It has an important application in the production of powder coatings and coil-coatings.

Health safety: Neopentyl glycol may be harmful if swallowed or absorbed through the skin. Irritating to eyes and skin, mucous membranes and upper respiratory tract.
