Methoxypropyl acetate is a colorless, flammable liquid with a limited ability to mix with water. It is a solvent with a low volatility and a mild odor.

Method of obtaining 
Methoxypropyl acetate is obtained in the reaction of the esterification with the acetic acid of glycol monomers obtained in the reaction of the ethylene oxide or propylene with alcohol.

Application 
Methoxypropyl acetate has numerous application such as: a solvent for resins and dyes, coalescent in coatings, particularly suitable for coatings containing polyisocyanates. It can also be used as a binding agent in foundries and as cleaning agent in the electronic industry.

Storage and transport
Methoxypropyl acetate should be stored in a cool, dry and well-ventilated place away from sunlight and any ignition sources, in stainless or carbon steel containers. For transport purposes, it is classified as ADR (ADR classification code: F1, RID/ADR class: 3, hazard label: 3, UN number: 3272).
